Mobile, Manufactured & Modular Homes in Florida

If you are searching for a mobile home, manufactured home or modular home in Florida, the terms are often used interchangeably, but they mean different things. Here is how they differ, and what Nobility Homes builds.

Mobile home vs. manufactured home

“Mobile home” is the older term for factory-built homes constructed before June 15, 1976. Homes built since then must meet HUD’s national construction and safety code and carry a certification label, and they are called manufactured homes. Many people still say “mobile home” for both. Nobility Homes builds HUD-code manufactured homes, and can build any of its floor plans as modular homes as well.

Manufactured vs. modular

Manufactured homes are built on a permanent steel chassis to the federal HUD code and transported to the site. Modular homes are built in sections to the local building code of the place where they will be set, and are placed on a permanent foundation. Nobility can build any of its floor plans either way, so you can choose the construction type that fits your lot, financing and local requirements. A Prestige Home Center consultant can walk you through both options.
